Qualifications
& Skills
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
5+ years of experience in electrical quantity surveying in large-scale construction projects (preferably with a prime contractor).
Strong understanding of BOQ, BOM, material take-off (MTO), and cost estimation for electrical works.
Experience with USACE, DoD, NEC, IEC, and UFC standards is a plus.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and estimating software (such as CostX, PlanSwift, or CCS Candy).
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Key
Responsibilities
Prepare and develop the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) based on drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Create a Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring alignment with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements.
Verify material take-offs (MTOs) for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, cabling, and fire alarm systems.
Ensure the BOQ/BOM is structured for procurement and aligns with project milestones.
Cost Control & Verification:
Review subcontractor and supplier BOQs/BOMs for accuracy and consistency with project scope.
Conduct cost analysis and provide estimates for electrical works.
Track and control material costs against project budgets and report variances.
Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
Validate supplier quotations and technical compliance of electrical materials.
Ensure compliance with UFGS, NEC, IEC, and project-specific electrical standards for material selection.
Support procurement in sourcing electrical components such as transformers, switchgear, panels, lighting, cabling, and protective devices.
Maintain accurate records of BOQ/BOM revisions and changes.
Prepare and submit progress reports, material tracking reports, and cost control reports.
Assist in variation order (VO) preparation and claims validation.
