Safety Manager - USA, NC

 We are seeking a candidate for Safety Manager ole who has a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and supervising Department of Defense construction projects.

Project DetailsThis project focuses on electrical and communications reconstruction from the range control tower to the targets. It includes installing new fiber optic cabling, data cabinets, and grounding systems, with testing and results submitted to the government.

What we are looking for:   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a Safety Manager in construction, particularly in fire protection upgrades, hazardous material abatement, or mechanical/electrical projects.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (minimum requirement).
  • EM 385-1-1 Certification – required for DoD and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects.

 What You’ll Do:  

  • Create and implement site-specific safety policies and procedures, particularly for fire suppression, hazardous materials, and life safety systems.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the project site to ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety requirements.
  • Ensure fire suppression system installations, hazardous material abatement, and electrical and mechanical upgrades meet safety standards.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and work with construction teams to mitigate risks.
  • Provide safety training to all site personnel, including subcontractors, ensuring they understand and follow safety protocols.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety meetings to reinforce safety practices and communicate any changes in safety policies.
  • Respond to safety incidents or near-misses, conduct investigations, and document findings in incident reports.
  • Recommend corrective actions and ensure their implementation to prevent recurrence of incidents.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety logs, inspection reports, and any documentation required for regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment and systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and personal protective equipment (PPE), are properly maintained and functional.
  • Ensure the project complies with EM 385-1-1 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers safety standards), DoD Fire and Life Safety Codes, and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities for site inspections and ensure successful approval of all required permits.
  • Oversee the safe handling, removal, and disposal of hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Monitor air quality and other environmental factors to ensure safety during hazardous material abatement.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire evacuation plans, first aid procedures, and coordination with local emergency services.
  • Ensure all fire protection systems, including alarms and suppression systems, are properly installed and tested.
